The Memorial Quilters Guild Today
Presently, the guild has 50+ members and is growing. We meet on the third Thursday of the month at 7:00 pm in the Forest Lake Senior Community Center, in a large, well-lit room perfect for quilting. Our dues are currently $18 a year. The meetings are open to anyone with an interest in quilting and "drop ins" are welcomed. The meetings are quilt-oriented and educational. When we have guest speakers, teachers, or parties, we start at 6:30 pm.
We have a spring quilt show every other year at various locations in the Forest Lake area. All members actively participate in preparing for the show by organizing, planning, and carrying out all aspects of the show. Besides members exhibiting quilts, they also sell boutique items and demonstrate quilt techniques at the show.
We had our first day-long Quilt-In Retreat in October 1996, and continue to hold two each year, in the spring and in the fall. The retreats include a choice of a quilting class to produce a finished product by the end of the day, or working on one of our service projects or your own project. The retreats always include good fellowship and a chance to share great food and ideas.
Our members are very enthusiastic and interested in all aspects of quilting, from designing, to teaching and construction.
